New SUDS Executive Committee elected and signing of Constitution

The SUDS Constitution, as accepted by the Genaral Assembly in Madeira 2018, has been approved and signed by the new Executive Commitee and General Assembly in Ferrara.

 

In addition, the following members were voted to the SUDS Executive Committee:

President – Marco Borzacchini

Vice President Admin and Finance – Lizzie Vogel

Vice President Sport – Jose Costa Pereira

Vice President Medical and Registration – Angela Palomba

Vice President Development and Education – Adilson Ramos

IAADS Announcement 

 

We would like to congratulate Mr José Costa Pereira who was appointed as interim President of IAADS, following in the footsteps of outgoing president Mr Marco Borzacchini.

 

Congratulations as well to Mr Sadettin Akçi, elected as IAADS interim Vice President Sport.

 

Best of luck for your new roles gentlemen, we are confident that you will continue building on IAADS's past successes.

SUDS Euro TriGames Ferrara, Italy

Early October we observed sporting excellence in the medieval city of Ferrara, Italy.  In a highly anticipated return to sport, the SUDS Open Euro Trigames did not disappoint!

 

400 athletes arrived from 18 countries, to compete in 8 sports.  The event was a culmination of hard work, passion and dedication.  Topped off with fun and new friendships formed.

 

To the host nation Italy, the LOC, and all volunteers, thank you for an excellent event. To the athletes, you are stars – your efforts and perseverance paved the way to success.  And to the team management, coaches and parents – your support make dreams come true. What a great celebration it was for everyone

SUDS newsletter: President's foreword

As I explained in my last Newsletter, SUDS is growing.  We now have 52 Countries who have Registered athletes in the SUDS Sports.   I’m especially pleased that we are extending our involvement into the South American region.

The road to Tampere - 1 week to go

 

Excitement is building for the 5th IAADS Open European Athletics Championships and 2nd ITTADS Open European Table Tennis Championships for athletes with Down syndrome.  The Games will take place from 24–29 of July 2019 in Tampere, Finland and are organised by the Finnish Sports Association of Persons with Disabilities, together with the local sports clubs Pyrintö and PT 75. 

Tampere is the third largest city in Finland and is situated between two lakes – Näsijärvi and Pyhäjärvi.  The city centre is dominated by industrial heritage, the beautiful national landscape of Tammerkoski rapids and historical red brick buildings.  It is a popular tourist destination and the perfect Summer backdrop for this European Open.

75 athletes from 12 countries will participate in a display of talent, dedication and hard work.  Show your support - let’s encourage these inspiring athletes to reach for new heights!

 

    

Brazil crowned Futsal kings

And so the 2nd FIFDS World Futsal Championships came to an end.  7 Countries participated in the event which brought much excitement to the city of Ribeirão Preto.  Congratulations to the hosts Brazil, who sealed a 7 – 5 victory against Argentina in the nail-biting final game.
